Dear Wellness Partners and Friends,
The Wellness Coalition works every day to help people access the healthcare services they need. One of the ways we do this is by offering free health insurance enrollment assistance. For the past five years, we have offered this service to our River Region service area—Montgomery, Autauga, Elmore, Lowndes, and Macon counties. This year we are happy to announce that the we are expanding our reach to serve 25 counties across Central Alabama, stretching from Sumter County to Lee County.
More than 100,000 adults in the 25-county service area are uninsured.
People who have little or no health insurance face a variety of challenges. They are:
- Less likely to access preventative care which creates higher rates of chronic disease
- Less likely to receive important health screenings
- More likely to use the emergency room for primary care
- More likely to be hospitalized for avoidable health problems
Choosing health insurance can be overwhelming and confusing for anyone.
The Wellness Coalition is here to help individuals and families seeking insurance. This includes those who are self-employed, working retail or food service, or perhaps working seasonally or more than one hourly wage job.
The open enrollment period for this year began November 1 and will last until December 15. Open enrollment is shorter than it was in previous years, so please contact us to complete your enrollment by December 15 in order to have insurance beginning on January 1, 2019.
Please call 1-800-309-4941 today to receive free assistance if you would like help applying for health insurance through the Federal Marketplace.
Sincerely,
Molly M. Stone
