Our community garden program has helped put gardens at area churches in Montgomery, Macon, and Lowndes counties. The great thing about living in the south is that every season is a planting season, which means gardens stay busy twelve months a year!
Pastor Valtoria Jackson from St. Peter AME in Montgomery recently sent pictures showing all the work they’ve put into making their garden a success. Take a look below!
From October’s fall planting:
Harvest time!
Sometimes, squirrels and other pests enjoy the garden too. So some custom-built fences were added to keep the fresh foods safe!
The community garden program is entering it’s third year and is organized through a partnership with the Central Alabama Regional Planning and Development Commission and a cooperative agreement with The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
