“The Wellness Coalition is proud to have served Central Alabama by improving health care access, and providing community programs and wellness education for both the public and health care professionals,” said Cynthia Bisbee, PhD, Executive Director for The Wellness Coalition.
A few of the achievements from the last year that were recognized include:
- Assisting 2,217 uninsured persons to access free medications valued at $786,612
- Providing 4,907 chronic disease education sessions and training churches to become sites for future sessions
- Providing case management services to 5,945 persons, some in homeless shelters
- Increasing the number of people with improved access to healthy food options from 15,705 to 30,575
“We are honored to have Mayor Strange recognize these achievements with us” said Bisbee. “Our mission is to work together with partners and communities to improve health and access for all, and we look forward to celebrating more achievements in years to come.”
